Approach

Erica's work has an appreciation for the agrarian and historic feel of the New England

landscape. She holds a pragmatic and forward-looking view of planting design. Native

species are a priority for their ecological value and their relationship to the wildlife

that depend on them. She also recognizes that a changing climate requires flexibility. The

goal is not to freeze a landscape in a single moment in time, but to design one that reduces

inputs, mimics natural systems, and remains beautiful over time. She believes there is a

balance between the unmanaged and over-managed that is neither neglected nor overworked.
